About the Role:

The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing and managing production schedules to ensure efficient manufacturing operations, optimal resource utilisation, and on-time delivery. The role supports the coordination between engineering, procurement, and shop floor teams to maintain smooth production flow and meet customer demand.

Responsibilities:

· Develop, implement, and maintain production schedules in line with customer orders and capacity

· Plan and coordinate manufacturing activities across the shop floor to ensure workflow efficiency

· Monitor daily production performance against plan and address deviations promptly

· Liaise with engineering, procurement, and quality teams to ensure material and technical readiness

· Analyse production data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities

· Ensure effective allocation of labour, machinery, and materials

· Maintain accurate planning data within ERP/MRP systems

· Support inventory control by aligning production plans with stock levels and demand forecasts

· Assist in continuous improvement activities to optimise production processes and reduce waste

Health & Safety:

· It is your responsibility to work in a safe manner to promote personal safety and the safety of others to prevent accidents occurring and report all near misses.

· Move materials safely and carefully using the correct mechanical lifting method.

· Use the appropriate PPE and ensure it is in good condition, replace when required.

· Follow the company’s Health & Safety Policy at all times.

About you:

Knowledge and Skills:

· Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field

· Proven experience in a planning or production control role within manufacturing

· Experience working in a shop floor environment

· Knowledge of production planning systems (MRP/ERP)

· Understanding of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement techniques desirable

· Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production workflows

· Excellent planning, organisational, and prioritisation skills

· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

· Attention to detail and accuracy in scheduling

· Effective communication with cross-functional teams and shop floor personnel

· Ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment

· Proficient in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel
